I've been to SD at least 10 times but I mainly just stay in Colonial Zone/Piantini

I'd like to do an official tour of SD what's a good company for a paid tour? I'd like one that's generally safe. I'd like to see local areas on top of historical areas. Hopefully bilingual*

Since no one is SD replied to your question I would say you can go on-line and search Santo Domingo Tours. There is information on the web. That would be your best bet.

No need for a tour company just go to Paco's at the entrance to Conde and ask for Alberto. He can show you most everything. He charges about 10 pesos per minute.

South Coast
Or you can take the Chu Chu Colonial and be held up at gunpoint

Stop spreading rumors, that did not happen. *A Polish woman on the tour had her phone stolen by a guy on a moto when she was on the street. *Could happen anywhere. Story was twisted and then corrected. *

What is it you want to see in SD? You have been here a few times and can easily see the sights on your own, at your leisure. Just a guess but the tour buses probably spend just as much time in traffic as they do seeing a few historical sites. Last thing you need is a tour bus that stops at El Conuco restaurant and kills an hour and a half eating a buffet lunch.
