I am looking to purchase a Scooter as transport to and from my small retail location. Not planning long distances, but just to get around the area.

I have looked on the internet and do not see a lot of options.

Does anyone know where I might purchase (new or used) a reliable Scooter?

Thank You

In PuertoPlata at the foot of the Teleferico Is a huge dealer with literally thousands of bikes from big to small. I don't remember its name, but it is where I bought my three wheeler Honda.

You won't find new scooters on the innerweb.

And keep in mind dealers don't make squat selling scooters, so don't be surprised if you get nowhere negotiating with cash. They make their $$$ charging those poor kids 3% a month interest.

I don't usually have much difficulty finagling a 5% cash discount in most places. Anything beyond that is more challenging and requires excellent conversation skills in Spanish or you are just another foreigner they can just say no to.

Sometimes after speaking with management and not successfully negotiating an acceptable price, walking away without a deal and returning a couple days later and speaking to that same manager has born fruit, but not always. Pappaterra can be particularly obstinate in this regard.

I've had good luck down here buying scooters on Facebook Marketplace. There are a ton of them on there to choose from.

Thank you all for your help.

Are their particular manufacturers I should avoid?

I assume when you say "scooter" you mean a pasola, a step-through two-wheeler with 2-stroke and automatic tranny.

In that case, the bigger the displacement, the better. The 50-100cc scooters work way too hard to last very long. Think 150-250cc. More spendy, but you won't stress it that much.
