I have some family coming to visit in a few weeks and realized, I don't know where I'm going to take them!

We'll go by El Monumento, but other than that I'm pretty clueless.

We're all young(er) in our early-mid 20s.

I'm sure we'd like to enjoy an adult beverage or two during their stay.

Especially trying to take them somewhere we can maybe hit the dance floor after we have some liquid courage.

:)

Car wash discos are underrated, I would go with that. Get your car washed and dance with some drinks and chicas. Think about it.

Wherever you go.....whenever they have had their fill of the local cuisine...head over to Chef Pepper for the best burgers in Santiago.

Respectfully,

Not many touristy things to do during the day, besides the monument, there's Centro Leon, a museum and cultural center. Walking around downtown (Calle Del Sol area) is pretty cool, Also, near the monument is the Teatro de Cibao, occasionally some great events there. Camp David is cool to check out for lunch or drinks, especially at sunset, the view is awesome. Plaza Internacional can be decent for people watching, Las Colinas is ok sometimes, Bella Terra is only decent at night, empty during the day. All three malls have great theaters with English language first run movies for about 1/3 the price of the US...

At night there are dozens of discos (with "non-working" girls), after hours clubs, tipico bars, car wash discos (with working girls), trendy cafes, decent to great restaurants...also a few areas with food trucks that get packed, especially on the weekends. There are two decent sized Casinos (Gran Almirante, Matum). There are big name (for the DR) concerts every weekend at clubs and bars around the city...just keep an eye out for posters.

Tip: in the DR "Night Club" usually means an adult club, like a strip club, although some of the biggest concerts are held at these places. What Americans call a night club is called a Disco or Discoteca".

Also, every Sunday in February, the Carnival parade takes over the monument area and Av. Las Carreras, family-oriented during the day (definitely worth seeing), but gets full of rowdy drunken teenagers once the sun goes down.

Do some searches here on DR1 and you'll find plenty of addition info on specific bars and restaurants.

@chic I know there are a few nice places over there but not sure which ones to go to exactly. We'll have to just try for ourselves walking around a bit in the area.

@Marcion I've been to car wash discos and not sure if I'd go back. It's fun as a single guy but as a family man who has female family members coming down I'm not so sure.

Or am I missing something?

@tommeyers Would have to find more information on it. I've seen signs around town for it but never been myself.

@R3cycle Twenty Two looks interesting but the page is really outdated. Lovera not too sure is the style I'm looking for. I guess it depends on the night as some are better than others at Lovera.

@playacaribe I agree! Chef Pepper is really good food and we'll probably have it while they're here.

@DavidZ Any recommendations on after hours clubs and discos?

Does anyone know about Moma Bar and Soho Rooftop? Can't find much information on them but heard some nice things about them.

I live in Santiago
Soho got shut down. Lunes de jazz moved to Teatro Ciabo. Still Mondays.

That is great place for jazz by any measure. Nice/clean venue. Starts 9 PMDR. Cover 150 RD$. OK prices on drinks.

The Club at Matum is open after hours, I think it's called Retro.

Moma was nice last time I was there, it's been a while. I believe Soho was replaced with The Penthouse - top floor of Bella Terra Mall. Twenty-Two gets pretty packed, but not really worth it unless you're in the Las Colinas area. Lovera is popular, but a bit out of the way, and not as high-end as the others. I think Tribeca and Dubai are still hot.

You can eat and walk to several good cafe/pubs in Los Jardines.

One thing about the nicer places in Santiago...they're a bit "clique-y" the girls are usually there in groups, often with guys. One bonus is bottle service is cheap (compared to places like Miami, NYC, Vegas, etc).
