will be flying back to usa leaving on the 8:30 am flt and would like any suggestions as to where I can stay the day before near the airport and take a taxi to airport at 7am in morning. reasonable but clean places please and thanks in advance for all your help.

where to stay close to airport in santiago?
You can stay at Hotel Century Plaza on Av. Rafael Vidal and there is a Marriot Courtyard on the Autopista closer to the airport
The former Marriott is called the Hodelpa Garden Court. You can google it to get their website and reservations. It is the very nice..still just like a Marriott, and the closest hotel to the airport, about 5 mins away. The Century Plaza is the second closest real hotel and very good for the money - around $50-60 USD with breakfast, about 10-15 minutes to the airport. Hotel Sol is a decent hotel, but it's location isn't the best for getting to the airport quickly.
Your other option is staying in a Cabana along the highway, but they're not regular hotels and may be a bit too much hassle, especially if you're looking for a place to check in, drop your stuff, head out to dinner, come back, relax, etc...
