Re: Large bugs?

Tina, since you're here-check out the rest of the website. It's so informative, everything you can think of is here. This where I found out A LOT of info!

Are you for real?

Based on all of your questions, you seem quite unreal.

Bugs? In the tropics? Cmon? You have to be kidding! Especially out in the countryside where you plan to reside.

Post this outside of the side threads, which deals only with
personal insults, and give you an answer instead:

Nope, no unusually large insects except butterflies. Of course,
it depends on what you mean by 'large'. Take notice that
Dominican Republic is one of the few tropical countries that
doesn't carry any lethal animals, except for sharks and some
crocodiles. (Which are quite easy to avoid: don't go where
they are!) Sure, we have mosquitos, flies, spiders, bees,
wasps etc. But noone that will kill you, unless you have
an allergy for some. Close to the border to haiti, malaria
cases has been reported, but that's the only real hazard
around. Also have a look at my postings under the thread
"should I have a shot", where I explain much of these issues.
(I'm a warm friend of mosquito net for sleeping, but otherwise
don't use anything)
