Will I receive a package shipped from the US?

Hi everyone,

I'm a paying subscriber of anytimemailbox.com, they receive my US mail and have an option to forward packages. I was wondering:

1) If I have them forward a package (something I bought on Amazon) to my Santo Domingo address, will I ever receive the package? They would bill me the for the shipping fees (e.g. UPS or Fedex I believe).

2) Would it be more expensive than shipping to one of the DR shipping forwarder address in the US (e.g. TainoExpress)? I used them once but can't recall how much I paid for the service :/

Cheers

I have never heard of that company before. But why dont you use a shipping service most of us use in the capitol. For example I have accounts with mailboxetc, bmcargo, eps, and aeropaq. With those you'll definitely get your package the "majority" of the time.

here is an old dr1 thread with more info:

How would anyone here know unless they use the same? Try calling them.

Global disruptions are so inconvenient.

Cheers.

Because I travel frequently to many countries and it's convenient to keep a US mail address for receiving letters. I don't live full time in the DR.

I guess my real question is whether Fedex/USPS/DHL/USPS can ship a package from the US to my Santo Domingo address? I just assumed it wasn't that simple/cheap because of all the package forwarding companies around here (unless people are using them only because they don't have a US address to ship stuff to?). On the other hand, if people do use them because they need a US address to ship stuff to, it might be cheaper for me to use my address (which I already have) instead of paying extra for that service.

Let me rephrase the question: let's say your mom (who lives in the US) wants to send you a package, do you ask her to ship it to the address of your forwarder in the US or directly to your DR address?

Shipping/delivery restrictions will vary by company. Best to contact the companies independently and ask. The big boys may offer refunds if they don't meet the declared service window. Yes, most or all of the big companies and many of the smaller mail forwarders are still moving parcels to the DR.

Govt is on a bit of a slowdown at the moment but I haven't heard of any significant delays clearing customs in the DR.

Where did you get this information. You sound like someone called the CoronaDR customer service line. Did you include the maritime shippers in this? Are you just talking about CPS like courriers. Who are the big boys? They may offer refunds?

Aeropaq keeps sending me emails saying they are operating. But I haven't tried it since the shutdown. They have limited offices open. They may deliver to your door, but my Spanish isn't good.

I can try a shipment if you like. To see what happens. We may be in quarantine for six months or more.

FedEx, DHL, UPS etc - The big boys.
CPS, EPS, Encargopaq etc - The freight forwarders

Try to keep up with what the OP is asking and is being discussed. Nowhere has anyone other than you El Rey brought up maritime shippers.

My advice is sound. Contact the company of your choice and ask them if a pkg from the US is deliverable in the DR with their service at this time. What's your issue with that?

Gheesh, some people's kids...

Honestly, folks are asking for guidance and it just sounds like you threw this out there and then your disclaimer of check with customer service. I wasn't interested in info or the OP Cdn. I am however always interested in your answer for every single situation that crops up on this board. I just wonder if you really do have all the answers.

Fedex/DHL/USPS can all send you a package to Santo Domingo. I do not know if theyll deliver to your exact Santo Domingo address. You may have to pick it up at one of their offices. I'll let someone else give you the particulars on that because the big boys are more expensive and i dont use them. I send everything to my miami addresses with the other local shipping carriers.

I'm sure the OP isn't interested in you making this about me. I suggested a course of action that would clarify the options available for the OP to get a package here. Is that not what is supposed to happen?

I wasn't aware that responding to someone's question required your editorial approval. Maybe mind your own business and quit the ad hominem attacks if you don't feel inclined to address the topic of the thread.

Apologies olalonde, I hope you get your stuff.

Thanks for the help everyone. I ended up trying two different freight forwarders but Amazon is giving me the following error:

"Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address. Learn more. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. "

The learn more link lists the following reasons:

Can't Ship to this Address

This may be because:
  • Dimensional shipping limits - standard shipping to these regions are limited by the overall shipping size which include a maximum length or girth of 108 inches and maximum weight of 70 lbs.
  • Large and/or oddly shaped items may not be eligible for shipping.
  • Hazmat - certain hazmat items (including but not limited to lithium batteries) are restricted from shipping to these areas.
  • Restricted Product - Products offered for sale on Amazon.com must comply with all laws and regulations and with Amazon's policies. For more information see Restricted Products.
  • Address type - certain address types preclude shipping speeds, due to carrier capabilities.
  • Amazon may be restricted from shipping to your country due to government import/export requirements.
  • You are shipping to a U.S. freight forwarder but your order contains items that are restricted from exportation.
  • Amazon may be restricted from shipping to your country or location due to manufacturer restrictions or warranty issues.
  • You may have chosen an offer from a seller who doesn't offer international shipping. Try looking for another seller.
  • You may have chosen an offer from a seller who doesn't offer shipping to your address due to the nature of the product (Perishable, Heavy/Bulky, Hazmat). Try looking for another seller or a similar product.

For more information see Shipping Restrictions.

I'm guessing the problem is that it's detected as a U.S. freight forwarder. FWIW, I'm trying to buy a Kindle Oasis.

Vimenpaq IS operating. I ordered April 20 on Amazon. My packages arrived in Santo Domingo today. I assume I can pick them up in Santiago tomorrow. Business as usual here.

Well, I tried about 4 different freight forwarders and Amazon keeps giving me that "Can't Ship to this Address" error. I guess they won't ship the Kindle Oasis to a freight forwarder's address, I give up!
