I need to make a direct wire transfer of funds from my bank in the US to Banco Popular in Santo Domingo. Can anyone direct me to someone with the bank who can give me the necessary routing numbers of the bank???? Preferably someone who speaks English!!
Thanks very much....trying to do business in the DR can be frustrating!! Actually had an attorney suggest changing a substantial check at the Western Union office!!!

What would be wrong with "changing a substantial check at the Western Union office"? Expensive, yes. But also done everyday. Especially if you're really in a pinch. I've never had trouble with them.

Here's a link for Westen Union...

<A HREF="http://www.westernunion.com/">http://www.westernunion.com/</A>

In the US, dial: 1-800-325-6000 for an English speaking rep, or
1-800-325-4045 for a Spanish speaking rep.

Your bank in the USA should locate that information for you. They have books and computer info access of most banks and routing numbers or they could call the banks wire transfer receiving dept. for that info.
Thay will charge you for the phone call however, but better their error if one is made than yours.

Yes, they SHOULD be able to get that info for you, but be very careful and have it double-checked. In 1995 I sent a wire transfer from NationsBank (now BofA) to Citibank in the DR, and somehow NationsBank managed to get the wrong routing and instead sent it to a bank that had been bankrupt in the DR for several years earlier! We recovered the money and had it re-routed to Citibank, but not before nearly giving both my wife and I (she was awaiting it in SD) heart attacks.
