Two large consulting firms merge

NEW YORK, 19 December- The face of tourist trade consulting changed dramatically today as two of the nation’s leading practitioners joined forces, according to a report received in Santo Domingo. Horwath Hospitality Consulting USA and Landauer Hospitality Group agreed to combine their consulting activities in the United States. Horwath Hospitality Consulting USA is a member of Horwath International, an international network of accounting and management consulting firms that is represented in the Dominican Republic by Sotero Peralta & Asociados. Landauer Hospitality Group is a division of Landauer Associates, Inc., a leading international real estate consulting firm. The agreement, which takes effect from 1 January, 1996, creates the largest tourist trade consulting group in the United States, with consultants and offices in 15 cities throughout the country. Ken Wilson, national director of tourist services of Landauer Hospitality Group said, “Joining forces with Horwath will further globalize our business, and allows us to bring worldwide resources and industry information directly to our customers. We can now better serve both our domestic clients’ international needs, as well as our global clients’ U.S. market requirements.”

“As the U.S. industry continues to rebound and show signs of solid growth, our clients are requiring a broader range of consulting services,” said Geoff Kirkland, chairman of Horwath Hospitality Consulting USA. “By combining the strengths of the two premier consulting organizations, we will offer the most extensive consulting services and experience in the marketplace.” The combined firms offer services regarding hotel, conference and convention centers, golf, and recreational market research and consulting; asset management and transaction services; valuations, appraisals and expert witness services; tourism and economic development planning; management contract, franchise and lease negotiation; and operational analysis and consumer research.
