The governor of the Las Americas International, Yaqui Núñez del Risco said that in December, some 206,598 passengers, 4% more than in the same month in 1994 passed through the airport. He said it is the first time that more than 200,000 people used the terminal in one month. He said there were some 131,141 arrivals, six percent more than in December 1994. The peak months for the airport in 1995 were July with 211,505, and August with 210,259. He said that contrary to what most people assume, the peak months for travel to the Dominican Republic are in the summer and not at Christmas time.
