Some 15 single and twin-engined light aircraft are expected to land on Monday, 8 January, at the Maria Montez Barahona International Airport. Frank Jorge Elias, the Minister of Tourism, reported that the members of the West Indies Flyers Club chose the Barahona airport for their visit to the Dominican Republic this year. Jorge Elías said that the West Indies Flyers will be given VIP treatment at all airports in the country where they land. He said the Barahona airport will be readied to offer arrival services on 8 January and departure services on 12 January, including customs and immigration services. He took the opportunity of emphasizing the importance of light aircraft tourism.
