Celebrities at Casa de Campo

Last week, the Listin Diario published a list of well-known people who have visited Casa de Campo in La Romana recently. They include Memo Gracida, considered the best polo player in the world; Spanish crooner, Julio Iglesias; Mexican actress, Lucía Méndez; Dominican designer, Oscar de la Renta; George Hamilton; golf course architect, Pete Dye, Henry Kissinger (who is writing his memoirs in Casa de Campo), Gabriel García Marquez, and the former President of Colombia Julio César Turbay Ayala.

Many of these people were in Casa de Campo last week to take part in an auction organized by Fundación Mir, for the children of La Romana. The auction was managed by the London Sotheby’s branch in New York and 100 items from Dominican artists and renowned galleries and shops in the country were on exhibition or sale, including works by Ada Balcacer and Patricia Reid, and from the collections of Tienda Darquin, Tienda Nuevo, Galería de Arte Nader, Carballo & Asociados, among others.
