According to the CTO, tourist arrivals from Canada decreased by 3% over the ten month period. Decreases were also recorded in every month of the year except August when there was an increase of 2.3%. Despite this overall performance, Aruba (up 16.7%), Bonaire (up 14.9%), Curacao (up 66.1%) and St Vincent and the Grenadines (up 12.5%) did very well, albeit from small bases.
Jamaica, Montserrat and the Turks & Caicos Islands also recorded a relatively strong growth of over 5%.
Conversely, 9 of the 20 reporting countries showed decreases in the number of Canadian arrivals in the region. Of these, decreases of over 15% were recorded in Antigua and Barbuda (27.4%), Bahamas (15.2%), Grenada (23.7%), Guadeloupe (30%) and Puerto Rico (22.2%).
