Jaime Tio, president of the Asociación de Hoteles de Santo Domingo, says that hotel occupation in Santo Domingo has reached acceptable levels after last two years during which it was at a low of 25%. He said that the difference in the occupancy rate is being made by small congresses and conventions that are being held in the city attracting groups from abroad. He said that if the trend continues, the year will end with an acceptable occupancy rate for the city’s hotels, reversing what has been a chronic downward trend.
