Caribbean tourist arrivals 1995

More 1995 year-end stopover visitor arrivals for individual Caribbean countries are now available. The best performances so far reported are Puerto Rico, Martinique, the Turks & Caicos, Dominica, Bonaire, the Cayman Islands and St. Lucia. Declines are recorded by Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and largely reflect the effects of hurricanes Luis and Marilyn. Bermuda’s figures were also affected by lesser storms. These islands, however, have quickly recovered from their setbacks, and with the exception of a few hotels are back in business. Statistics on Caribbean tourism are kept by the Caribbean Tourism Organization of which the Dominican Republic is not a member.
