The National Department of Parks has announced it will begin to plant trees on the Isabel Torres mountain, the landmark of Puerto Plata, seeking to slow down the landslides that are now affecting the Botanical Gardens on top of the mountain which could eventually prejudice the cable car system if not stopped. The director of the National Parks Department, Captain Radhamés Lora Salcedo, has placed an area of the mountain out-of-bounds to avoid more deterioration and has announced he will soon implement a tree-planting scheme in coordination with Puerto Plata organizations.
