Making life easier for on-the-road tourists

The Ministry of Tourism has announced it will begin posting signs to help guide visitors to attractions and sites of interest. The plan contemplates posting signs easily interpreted by people from all countries on the roads leading to the historical sites and tourism centers throughout the country. To this end, the Minister of Tourism Frank Jorge Elías met with the director of Tránsito Terrestre, the Ministry of Public Works department in charge of sign posting. Mr Jorge Elías said that the amount of signs and billboards that litter Dominican landscapes are counterproductive and adversely affect the natural beauty of the tourist areas and the coastline. He emphasized the importance of the signposts on the highways and roads leading to centers of tourist interest so that they can be found easily by visitors.
