Cabarete Race Week

In a press release sent to The Santo Domingo News by Mike Braden, Coordinator of the Cabarete Race Week, it was announced that the Cabarete Race Organization is preparing to hold an international windsurfing competition from 16 to 22 June, 1997. Windsurfing competitors from all over the world are expected to compete during a week of racing and festivities.

he Cabarete Race Organization is a newly formed body made up of all the windsurfing businesses in Cabarete. These are Surf Resort, CariBIC, Fanatic, Vela/Spinout, Sport Away, Happy and Surf & Sport. The purpose of the race is to promote Cabarete as a windsurfing and multi-sport holiday resort.

Cabarete has long been known as one of the best places for windsurfing in the world. In the early 90’s, Cabarete was the site of four consecutive World Cup events. The newly formed Cabarete Race Organization wants to continue to build on the global reputation Cabarete has gained over the past ten years.

The Cabarete Race Week is a non-profit making event. It will be financed by the Race Organization with additional support from the businesses in Cabarete. The Race Organization had already committed over US$11,000 towards the event, and have retained Mr. Mike Braden to see to its organization.

Cabarete Race Week will be more then just a set of races. It will be a major event with the entire week being filled with competitions, fiestas, and fun for everyone. For more information: Fax Mike Braden at 571-3346.
