18 new flights to D.R.

On 4 July, the Dirección de Aeronaútica Civil, the local civil aviation board, authorized 18 airlines from Germany, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, to make charter or scheduled flights to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo. The charter authorizations will principally increase traffic from Spain, Germany, Italy, Britain, Belgium, Austria, and Argentina.

The details are:

Hapag Lloyd of Germany. Additional flight Frankfurt-Santo Domingo. The airline already has charter flights to and from Puerto Plata.

Lapa was authorized to fly on the route Buenos Aires-St. Marteen-Punta Cana-Puerto Plata-Buenos Aires.

Lapsa, of Paraguay, was authorized to operate charters Asunción-Aruba-Punta Cana sectors.

Aserca, from Venezuela, will fly charters from Caracas to Santo Domingo.

Skyking was authorized to fly on the route Providenciales-Punta Cana-Providenciales.

Aeroperu will now operate Lima-Punta Cana-Caracas-Lima and Lima-Caracas-Punta Cana-Lima.

Air Europe was authorized to exploit the new route Milan-Basel-St. Marteen-Puerto Plata-Basel-Milan.

Sky Jet was given permission to fly from Brussels-Germany-Puerto Plata-Germany-Brussels.

Lynx Air International, a U.S. airline, was approved to operate charter flights from Miami to Santiago and back.

Viscount Air and Falconair Express can now make weekly flights to Orlando, Florida-San Juan, Puerto Rico-Santo Domingo and vice versa. Also Orlando-Puerto Plata and vice versa.

Oasis of Spain was authorized for the route Madrid-Puerto Plata-Madrid-Puerto Plata-Cancún-Madrid.

Air Europe was authorized to change its equipment and fly wide body A-310 jets.

Cubana de Aviación will fly on Saturday on the La Habana-Varadero-Punta Cana-Santo Domingo route and the Santo Domingo-Santiago de Cuba to transport Air Europe crew. The airline was also authorized to operate a Friday flight on the route La Habana-Santiago de Chile-Santo Domingo-La Habana, transporting tourists.

Lauda Air of Austria will fly charter flights Vienna-Punta Cana-Puerto Plata-Vienna.

Dinair will have charter flights on the route Buenos Aires, St. Marteen-Punta Cana-Buenos Aires.

Britannia will develop a winter program with charter routes London-Santo Domingo-London and Manchester-Puerto Plata-Manchester.

Finnair will exploit the routes Helsinki, Finland-Holguin-Puerto Plata-Helsinki-Varadero, Cuba-Puerto Plata-Helsinki.

Aerocaribbean will begin charter flights from La Habana-Santo Domingo-La Habana.
