Christopher Pollock, former manager of the Renaissance Pine Isle Resort in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A., is the new general manager of the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel & Casino. Mr. Pollock replaces Alvaro Soto, recently promoted and transferred to Brazil. The new manager was born in London, and grew up in Toronto, and then later in the Bahamas, where his father was in the hotel business.
He began his hotel career in 1973 on the front desk clerk at the Galt Ocean Mile Hotel, where he stayed for eight years occupying positions in reception, housekeeping, the bars, executive steward and night manager. He has a degree in general management and a masters in Business Administration and Finance from Florida Atlantic University.
In 1982, he joined Stouffer Hotels, working in Mobile, Alabama and St. Louis, Missouri, as well as the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D. C. From 1987-1992 he was assistant general manager of the Stouffer Grand Beach Resort in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and he subsequently opened the Renaissance Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He is married to Dorene Pollock. Among his hobbies, he enjoys car racing, water sports, deep sea fishing, and baseball.
