Norwegian Cruise Lines ship to visit regularly

Norwegian Cruise Lines’ “Windward,” a 12-deck deluxe ship with a capacity for 1,500 passengers and 520 crew, visited Santo Domingo last week and was received by the city’s mayor, Rafael Suberví Bonilla and the Minister of Tourism, Felix Jiménez, as well as by the Director of the Ports department, Fernández Collado and representatives of Frederic Schad, the ship’s agent. Most of the passengers on board were from the United States and Canada. Rosalinda Thomas, the local representative for Norwegian Cruise Lines, said that the company will be scheduling visits by another vessel the “Seaward” on a weekly basis next year.

The Minister of Tourism, Felix Jimenez, will be meeting the Cruise Lines Association in St. Thomas, and will be speaking on the Dominican government’s position in regard to cruise ship travel. The meeting will be held 23-26 October.
