Sitting down to talk

The recently created Comisión Organizadora del Diálogo Nacional, a committee formed by the government to foster talks between the government, politicians and civic society groups, met on Monday, 1 December, to set the rules and regulations of the entity and establish the methodology that would ensure the participation of all sectors of the country in the national dialogue set to begin next year in mid January. Spokesman for the Commission, Monsignor Agripino Núñez Collado, said that the principal organizations of the country would appoint one member to each of the 10 sub-commissions. The 100 representatives will then meet on 16 December. From that meeting a summary of the principal proposals on the ten subjects chosen for discussion by the sub-commissions will be drawn up. The sub-comissions are Economic Policy; Social Policy; Popular Sectors, Community and Unions; Political Reforms; State of Law; Cultural Policies; International Policies; Infrastructure; Farming; Natural Resources Policy and Environment.
