The Supreme Court of Justice modified the sentence which granted a bail of RD$3 million to former banker Leonel Almonte. His bail requirement was increased to $20 million. Almonte was freed on 8 October when his case reached the Court of Appeals in Santiago. Almonte’s case is pursued by a group that gathers hundreds of persons who lost their savings when the bank folded.
