More problems with Smith-Enron

The U.S. based Smith-Enron power generating corporation warned the CDE that it would disconnect from the system if the government does not pay US$14 million in arrears per the electricity contract. The Listin Diario reported on the differences between the CDE authorities and the firm. The CDE denies Smith-Enron’s claim. The government is in a bind as it needs the power generated by the Smith-Enron plant as national generation is deficient. Hoy newspaper has published details of the onerous contract the Balaguer government signed with the above that includes clauses such as the state energy utility having to pay for energy not served.
