Argentine diplomat requested for homicide case of minor

The district attorney of Santo Domingo sent the case of assassinated 12-year old José Rafael Llenas Aybar to the Sixth Penal Chamber. The case involves the husband and son of the former Argentine ambassador in the country, Teresa Meccia de Palmas. Two 18-year old Dominicans are in prison for the assassination that occurred in May 1996. The Palmas-Meccias family abandoned the country on 14 August, two days before the inauguration of the Fernández government. The judge said that he would formally notify the diplomats that they are required in Santo Domingo for the trial. They are not expected to show and will then be tried in absence. The case has 1,911 pages containing investigations of judge Alexis Henríquez Núñez. The 12 year old youngster was found floating in a small lagoon at the height of Km. 24 of the Autopista Duarte. He had 34 knife wounds. A cousin confessed to the assassination.
