New hotel for Bavaro beach

Occidental Hotels, one of the larger hotel chains operating in the Dominican Republic, is building a hotel on the east beach strip of Bavaro. The hotel will be their largest property, with 850 rooms going up at a cost of RD$800 million. The hotel will be known as Occidental Flamenco Bavaro, as confirmed by executives Adolfo Favieres, vice president and Gabriel Felip, general director, who visited the country last week. The corporation also announced RD$80 million will be invested in 1998 to remodel the Occidental Embajador in the capital city of Santo Domingo. Occidental operates the Gran Bahia, Cayo Levantado and Cayacoa in Samana. In Puerto Plata, it operates the Flamenco, Villas Dorada, Playa Dorada and La Esplanada (Sosua). In Juan Dolio, it operates the Playa Real.
