President Leonel Fernandez was at Las Americas International Airport on Monday to welcome several of the first Dominicans returning from New York. President Fernandez, who himself lived several years as an immigrant in the Big Apple, greeted the Dominicans that are returning for the Christmas holidays. "May the returning Dominicans and those present fully enjoy these Christmas holidays and may they be an expression of love, peace and harmony among the Dominican family," said the President. The President was greeted enthusiastically by everyone throughout the terminal. One returning Dominican, Antonio Flores, said, "I can die tomorrow, I have greeted my President." Despite the lack of popularity of his government, the President, himself, is the most popular man in the Dominican Republic, according to a Gallup poll.
