Speed track will be ready this month

Construction is advancing fast on the Las Americas Autodromo, the car racing track that is going up close to the V Centenario Horse Racing Track on the Las Americas Avenue, that leads to the beach lands in the east and to Las Americas International Airport. Juan Miguel Hidalgo, general manager of the new race track said that the track is among the most modern in Latin America. He said the asphalting of the track will be completed by the 20th of this month. A report in the Listín Diario indicates that there is room for as many as 12 grandstands of 5,000 persons each. In 1998, the management of the new race track plans to hold two Grand Tour International events, four national circuit races, four international motorcycle races, four international drag races, and 24 national drag races.
