After years of talks, the French hotel chain Accor was authorized to lease the Hotel Comercial for RD$100 million. There are seven other hotels of the 19 belonging to the state that could also be operated by Accor. These include the Hotel Frances and the Hostal Nicolás de Ovando, located in 16th century buildings within the Colonial City. Accor will make a RD$10 million investment in the Hotel Comercial that is located on Calle El Conde. The Accor investment comes at a time when the French tourism influx is increasing.
