E. León Jiménes, which manufactures Marlboro cigarettes and Presidente beer, is again sponsoring the year’s-end bash at the Avenida del Puerto of Santo Domingo. Fernando Villalona, Los Toros Band, Los Hermanos Rosario, José Peña Suazo and his Banda Gorda, and Toño Rosario, are the stars of the merengue blast that will welcome the New Year. The mega party takes place at the Avenida del Puerto facing the Columbus Lighthouse which lights up to a show of fireworks, come the first day of 1998. The show is free for the entire city to enjoy.
