President Leonel Fernández toured Barahona, Galván, Cabral and other small towns of the Southwest, the most impoverished region, as per findings of a recent study carried out by the government. He promised a crusade against the main problems affecting the nation, which would mostly favor the most impoverished sectors. The President said that his visit was not political, but rather his interest in seeing for himself the situation today of the poorest regions of the country.
