What the Dominican people want for 1998

According to results from the Gallup-Hoy newspaper poll, the Dominican people would like to see an improvement in the economy and energy crisis, a drop in food prices and an increase in job opportunities. Thirty-one percent wished for an improvement of the economy, 15% asked for an improvement of the energy situation, 8.8% called for a drop in the price of food and 7% would like to see more job openings. The same poll, held last 5-9 December, provided a wish list for Dominicans. Eighteen percent wish to find a job; 13% want to finish or repair their home; 11% want to improve economically; 8.6% want to purchase a house; 5.6% wish for an improvement in health services; and 4.8% hope for good health in 1998.
