For the first time in contemporary Dominican history, the Dominican Republic will have a new budget passed by the Presidency several days before the end of the year. The budget was submitted by the Presidency to Congress in October and on Christmas Day, President Leonel Fernandez signed the bill into law. The National Budget total is RD$38,749.1 million. The largest share of the budget was allotted to the Ministry of Education, some 15%.
