Former President Joaquin Balaguer instructed Rafael Bello Andino, Victor Gómez Bergés and Joaquín Ricardo to represent the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano at the National Dialogue called by the government, which begins today at the National Palace. Participants include political parties, non-governmental organizations, the Catholic Church, the Evangelic Church, and the so-called popular groups that represent grass-root organizations. Dr. Jose Francisco Peña Gómez, of the PRD, has opposed the dialogue, but authorized allied parties, under the Acuerdo de Santo Domingo political coalition, to participate in the Dialogue. Peña Gómez has said his party will not participate as the government has shown a lack of respect for the PRD. President Leonel Fernández will preside over the first work session set for 10 am.
