The Corporación Dominicana de Electricidad reached an agreement with most of the members of a former union of the CDE, Sitracode. Ten union leaders accepted severance payments of RD$4.2 million to desist in their demands. Those accepting are Eliazel Batista Matos, Agustín Vargas Saillant, Rafael Bello Ortiz, Emilio Báez González, Luis Manuel Bautista, Johnny Pimentel, José Peguero, Francisco Reyes Lao, José Joaquín Inoa and Divino Antonio Castillo. Three remaining members, including former secretary general Ignacio Soto, and José Francisco Geraldo and Otoniel de León, still resist an agreement with the government and maintained their demand to return to work at the CDE. The group was canceled in 1990, when the government decided to dismantle the union that enjoyed working conditions viewed as highly disadvantageous to the well-being of the CDE.
