The Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) maintains its position not to participate in the National Dialogue called by the President. Its party secretary, Hatuey Decamps, and fellow party members Rafael Gamundi and Winston Arnaud, personally delivered to President Leonel Fernández a letter expressing that it considers the talks are a government initiative that should be directed by the government. The party spokesmen said that once the government reaches a conclusion, the party is in disposition to integrate with a dialogue directly with the government. Regarding the talks, Cardinal Nicolás López Rodríguez said the government could save itself time if it retook the 10 points which all parties agreed were the main issues upon going into the 1994 presidential election and focused on these as the National Agenda.
