The finals of the Dominican Winter Baseball Tournament begin tomorrow, 24 January. This is the 14th time the Licey, a Santo Domingo team, confronts the Aguilas of Santiago de los Caballeros. The Licey won the round robin, (13 games won against 4 games lost), one and a half game ahead of the Aguilas. The Estrellas placed third and the Escogido, last. The Licey is the Dominican team with the most championships (15), the Aguilas, with 13 local championships including the 1996-97 season. The Aguilas also won the Caribbean Baseball Series last year.
