The general manager of the Corporación Dominicana de Electricidad, Temístocles Montás, assured the nation that the electricity service would improve considerably before summer with the installation of the five new turbine power plants purchased from the French company, GEC Alsthom. Montás travelled to France to visit the headquarters of the European Gas Turbine, the subsidiary of GEC Alsthom building the plants, that will have a combined capacity of 170 megawatts. The company has committed to their installation in six month’s time. Didier Forget, general director of the company, said that they would deliver the plants before deadline. Montás also met with executives of Siemens in Germany. Siemens is in charge of the construction of another unit that will generate 100 megawatts.
