State university to reopen

The board of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo chose to restore classes as of Monday in Santo Domingo. Recently, students protested the decision of the board of the state university to begin expelling from the university students that do not meet minimum academic requirements. The university’s finances have suffered from cases of students that have spent up to 15 years taking classes at the center. The university loses RD$2 million a day when it closes. The university closed on Wednesday after confrontations with the Police and students resulted in the killing of a student.
