The Dominican Republic imported fuel products for US$4,770 million during the period 1990-1997. The total was 16% of the total imports for the period, according to statistics from the Dominican Petroleum Refinery, Falconbridge and the Dominican Electricity Corporation (CDE), the three largest importers. Total imports for the period were US$29,756.2 million, according to statistics of the Central Bank.
