The Dominican negotiating team is giving a final read to the free trade agreement that will be signed on Saturday by the 14 Caribbean Community member nations. The agreement will be signed in English and in Spanish. Seven rounds of negotiations and similar numbers of technical rounds preceded the conclusion of the paper. The Caribbean Community agreed to present a single list of products that will be exempted from the duty free treatment in exchange for the Dominican Republic eliminating the requirement of the consular invoice for its exports to the DR. The DR is also granting privileged treatment to the smaller Caribbean economies.
