The provisional judge of the Cámara Civil y Comercial de la Segunda Circunscripción issued a judgment that favors the new board of the Junta Central Electoral, the body in charge of the organization of presidential, municipal and congressional elections in the DR. Judge Nuris Landry de Castillo ruled that the Executive Branch immediately release funds retained since 17 September at the request of the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC) and the Fuerza Nacional Progresista (FNP). The judge based her decision on articles 110, 111, 112, 114, 115 of Law 254 of 1958 and 102 of the Constitution, as well as on article 13 of the Electoral Law. The Executive Branch had said it awaited a judgment in order to release the funds. The political parties reject the make up of the new board of the JCE, elected unilaterally by the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano, which has majority in the Senate. The PRSC and the FNP appealed the decision.
