Claudine Bonó, who represented the Dominican Republic in the OTI Song Festival held in Costa Rica, placed 12th. Other finalists were the representatives of the US, Uruguay, Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala, Portugal, DR and Spain. A three-time OTI participant from Chile won the important regional festival that is televised to all of Iberoamerica and Hispanic audiences in the United States.
