The Ministry of Tourism authorized private taxi companies to drop off tourists to the Maimón, Costambar and Playa Dorada tourism complex. But the Ministry pleased hotel taxi unions by banning taxi companies from being able to respond to telephone calls made by tourists from their hotels. Taxis dropping off tourists need to leave the area and may not pick up passengers in the enclaves. The Asociación de Propietarios de Hoteles y Condominios de Playa Dorada opposes the monopoly of the taxi unions.
