President Leonel Fern?ndez and Venezuelan President-elect Hugo Ch?vez agreed by telephone yesterday to establish an alliance that would serve as a bridge between South America and the Caribbean. The press department of the National Palace yesterday issued a brief statement indicating that Ch?vez had confirmed he would visit the DR prior to February and to his swearing in as President of Venezuela.
