El Caribe newspaper reports that the DR has become a major exporter of frogs to the US. El Caribe reports that from January to November 1998, almost a million frogs whose legs will be served in gourmet restaurants have been exported to the US. Most of the frogs are bred in the area of Nagua, in the province of Mar?a Trinidad S?nchez on the northern coast. The best selling species is the Macos Toro or Rana catesbieana.
