The Licey is now only one game away from earning the right to confront the Escogido, that won the regular series, for the championship title. The Licey needs yet to defeat the Aguilas again in Santiago to pass on to the final series. The Licey leads the semifinals 2 wins to 1 over the Aguilas. The Aguilas are the 1997-1998 champions, and winners of the Caribbean Series. The game is expected to be played to a full house at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo.
