The letter focused on the need for passing important social and economic reforms that have stagnated in Congress. The Church criticized that the politicians spend so much time on sterile discussions that make them look like gossiping old maids. The letter expressed the popular sentiment that politicians are just interested in power for their own political power and not for the common good.
