José Lima wins his 20th game

Dominican pitcher José Lima (20-7) of the Houston Astros won his 20th game over the weekend, defeating the Chicago Cubs, 5-3. He is the pitcher that has won the most games in the National League. Lima struck out the first three batters and retired 10 of the first 11 batters he matched. He was furious, though, when the Houston manager did not allow him to pitch to Sammy Sosa who was coming up in the eighth inning when he was sent to the dugout. Sammy Sosa connected his 66th home run last season against Lima. Lima is only the fifth Dominican in the Major Leagues to reach the 20th wins in a season. The others are Juan Marichal (6 times), Joaquín Andujar (twice), and Pedro and Ramón Martínez (once each).
