Gasoline prices will not go up for now

Secretary of the Presidency Alejandrina Germán says that the government does not contemplate an increase in the price of gasoline or diesel for now. The cost of imported petroleum has considerably increased on world markets. There is strong opposition to an increase. In 1996, upon increasing the price of gasoline considerably, the Fernández administration promised that fuel prices would fluctuate with international petroleum prices. This did not occur when the price of fuel dropped. Now, consumers feel it is not fair to increase the price to reflect the increase.
