Peggy Cabral, Santo Domingo’s deputy mayor, said she will return to her post at the Municipality of Santo Domingo. She had requested an indefinite leave of absence, reportedly after having differences with fellow party member, Mayor Johnny Ventura. She accepted to return when city alderman rejected her request for an indefinite leave of absence. Peggy Cabral is the widow of former PRD leader, the late José Francisco Peña Gómez. She is known as the Dominican version of Eva Perón.
